| However hard we may try to find ourselves a job when it does not suits your needs well and qualifies you, you cannot have it for long. We're all guilty of job hopping at one point or another – according to statistics, the average person changes jobs or careers once every three to five years. (Whoever thought up this "career" business is a corporate propagandist. Jobs are jobs – it's what you have to do to get money.) The hitch is that job hopping can be bad for retirement savings. For one, you can lose value when you leave an employer and you had a 401(k) account for a retirement plan. (Get a Roth, Jethro.) You don't want to need payday loans in your golden years. The idea is that the longer you stay with a company, the more you can contribute and the more they will match. |
